Hello!!!
Okay I don't even know where to begin. This has probably been the craziest week EVER!!! To start off, last Saturday I got the call from President that I was being transferred. When he told me this I started crying over the phone while I was talking to him hahaha. He asked me if I was okay and I told him that I would be. He told me that I could go back for the baptisms at Purdue. So that made it easier.
I am training a new missionary in Columbus 1st ward. Her name is Sister Gray! Fun fact about Sister Gray is she is from Nottingham, England!!! Yes. That's right. She has a thick accent and calls a vacuum a hoover. Also, she calls trash rubbish. Yes I now say those things as well. It's sounds better. The first day President said something about sweat pants and she looked at me and said, "What are sweat pants?" Hahaha someone at a doorstep said something about a strip mall and she about fainted. I had to explain to her what that actually was.
The day of transfers we went out tracting right when we got here. Our first few doors we talked to a lady and she brought us out water and granola bars. Then she told us to come in and she fed us dinner. Sister Gray was freaking out because she was surprised how nice people are here. She says everyone in England is mean.
We are seeing miracles!!! We found in the area book a record for a family whom the elders had dropped. We decided to go and stop by. Well there was a man sitting out on the porch and he told us that his daughter and her husband had been meeting with the missionaries but they chose a different church. We heard about this man and that he was anti. Well we ended up talking to him about random stuff for over an hour. Just as we were about to leave the family pulled up to the house. They all got out and we got to play with the kids and talk to them for awhile. I was talking with the wife Kim and she told me that the only reason they went to a different church was because of her dad. She said that they are moving out next week and they want to come back to our church!! Yes!!! Also, the husband speaks spanish so I was able to talk to him a little and he was very impressed. Thanks mom and dad!! They are so cute. I'll keep you updated on this family.
We went to Walmart the other day to get groceries. Bad idea. This was Sister Gray's first time in a Walmart. It was so funny!! She just kept staring at everything. She said that everything is so big! When we got to the checkout line she got very overwhelmed. She doesn't know how to use American money and she was already overwhelmed with how big the place is. I was able to help her but we will NOT be going back to Walmart. It was stressful for me haha.
Also, this week Sister Gray broke her foot. Yep, another one of my companions broke her foot. We were out tracting and she fell down someone's steps. She is pretty light so I was able to scoop her up like a baby and carry her to the car. We had a lesson around the corner so we went to their house and they put ice on it while we taught them. Then I carried her back to the car and we went to go get it checked. The closest urgent care is in another town so we had to drive 40 minutes to get to an urgent care and then they told us that they don't do x-rays on weekends!!! What?! Who doesn't do x-rays on weekends!! It's not like we chose it. So then we ended up going to the hospital. It was an exhausting day. She now has a boot on and we'll know more when we go for the check up appointment. Let's just say my biceps hurt haha.
Hopefully I got everything. This week feels like a blur. Please pray for Sister Gray and her foot.
I love you all!!!
Love,
Sister Smith
P.S. Tell Jared I say congrats!!!
