Hello Family!!
I can't believe you were here in Indiana!! That's so crazy! I hope you had fun everyone said that those games were awesome. I'm really sad I didn't get to see you but I'm glad you got to meet my President Cleveland and his wife. They are so amazing! I love them so much! That's so sweet what he said about me. I'm glad you could feel the spirit with them. Every time I'm with him I feel the spirit and I know that he is an inspired man. AHHH!!! I just love it that you were here. Thanks for the pictures you all look so cute! Did you get any shirts that say Hoosier while you were here? Jake I'm sorry you have bronchitis :( That really stinks. Looks like you won't be kissing any girls for awhile hehe ;)
This week has been kind of slow and not really that much has happened. Yet again we've been tracting this whole week. We teach tons of people and everyone is religious so they are willing to listen but then we are never able to get a return appointment. This week we taught one of our investigators Peggy. She is so sweet, she is in her 70s and always calls us her daughters. She is so ready to get baptized and so excited. The only thing that is holding her back is the Word of Wisdom. She has been smoking since she was 12 years old. She said that her grandfather gave her her first smoke to show her how to be a lady. Ugh. Well we taught her the word of wisdom and it went really well. She said that she will go to the AA meetings and we helped her think of other ways to help her quit. Her husband, Ray, and her son who live with her smoke as well. They are not willing to give it up so it's going to be really hard for her. She also hasn't come to church because Ray doesn't want to go. He keeps making up excuses but I see right through them so I tell him how it is. Ray and I are very honest with each other :) hahaha he's awesome. We met with Ben this week and taught him the word of wisdom as well. I guess it was a week of word of wisdom! He was not that accepting of it but he said he would try. I was very upfront with him. He kept trying to think of ways to get around it but ain't no one gonna do that to me. Well he came to church on Sunday, which was awesome! When he sat down I smelled alcohol on him :( We'll be having a chat next time we meet. It's been a rough week but so much fun as well. We had transfers this week so we have new elders in our ward. I miss the old ones but the new ones are cool I guess.
Yesterday we went to a Cambodian lunch with the elders. The food was really good but then she handed us dessert. I forgot what it's called but it was white and slimy and looked like an egg. Inside of the round egg thing was hard cakey weird stuff. I took a bite and I panicked. I didn't know how I was going to eat it. Sister Perry and the elders were looking at me and laughing. I decided I would take a big bite and just shove it down. Well when I took a big bite I gagged. It almost came up but I had to hold it down. My eyes were watering and my face was red. They all kept laughing at me but seriously I thought I was going to puke. Luckily Elder Rigby took the rest and ate it for me when no one was looking. My respect definitely grew for him. I also went to dinner at a members this week and they were having salmon. Crap. I got a smaller piece and decided I just had to do it. I started to eat it and I kept gagging. It almost came up as well. Sister Perry saw I was struggling so after she finished hers, she switched hers and mine while no one was looking and ate it for me. Thank heavens! I have learned this week that I have a really weak stomach and that there is a reason I was sent state side. I'm so grateful for the missionaries around me and their strong stomachs to help me haha. God knows!
So life in Indiana is great! I'm loving every second! Even when it's hard I love it! Stay strong everyone and be grateful you didn't have to eat white goey stuff this week. Love you all!
Love,
Sister Smith
