Hello Everyone!!
I miss you all so much! I love all the pics you sent me mom! Josh you look pretty fly with the new glasses! I'm not surprised that all the ladies flock to you. Josh did you get braces? One of the pictures looks like you have them. Jake welcome back from choir tour! I seriously have so many amazing memories of choir tour. I'm jealous you were in Disneyland without me :( But I'm on a mission so that's cooler!
Okay so this week was full of so many miracles! Yay it's about time! So we had a conference call last Tuesday with the whole mission. President Cleveland gave us a training over the phone about faith. He told us we weren't doing enough and the mission was missing something. He said that we need to be obedient and diligent but that is not enough. He said we need to have faith. So each day this week I've been studying faith. Sister Perry and I decided we need to increase our faith and "expect miracles" as President Cleveland put it. And of course we saw miracles!
Miracle #1: We found 5 new investigators this week!!! WHHAAA???
Miracle #2: We were tracting and at one house an 18 year old boy answered the door. Right away he asked us if we were Mormon missionaries and we said yes. He told us that he was on Purdue campus a few days ago visiting and some Mormon missionaries came up to him. He said he loved what they said and they gave him a card and he was planning on calling them. WELL...he accidentally put the card in his library book and returned it. AND a few days later we showed up! He is now a new investigator! Wahoo!!!
Miracle #3: Peggy decided to go cold turkey with coffee and smoking. Her husband Ray is a big smoker too but when we met with them he told us that he knew she wouldn't be able to quit if he didn't. Soo...they are now both quitting smoking together! When we went over yesterday their ash trays were washed out and cigarettes put away. It's going to be a long struggle but they can do it!
Miracle #4: We have an investigator named Charie. I just barely met her last week. I guess Sister Perry used to teach her but then she got busy and we couldn't get in contact with her for two months. Well we finally did and we taught her this week. AND...She agreed to be baptized and is getting baptized on May 30th!!! Mini miracle is she came to church on Sunday and brought her daughter!
Miracle #5: Peggy and Ray called us last night and said that they needed money. They live in a trailer park so they are really struggling. They said they only needed 10 dollars for groceries. Well we as missionaries are not allowed to give them money. I called Brother Garner who is over the welfare of the ward and he said he would go with us to meet them. When we were there he decided he didn't want them to have to wait a week with everything to process so he looked in his wallet and pulled out 21 dollars and gave it to them. The spirit was so strong I started to cry. It was so amazing that he took his own money and gave it to them. Mini miracle is that he said he never keeps cash in his wallet but the day before he found it in an oven mitt that he found remodeling his kitchen.
MIRACLES HAPPEN PEOPLE!!!! In the Bible and Book of Mormon there were so many miracles. God is the same yesterday, today and forever. If this is true, why can we not have miracles like in the Book of Mormon or Bible. Miracles happen according to your faith, not the other way around. There are so many other miracles that I didn't mention! Go out and "EXPECT A MIRACLE."
I hope everyone one is well. I'm sorry you're not feeling well mom :( I'll pray for you. Have you gone to the doctor?
Thank you for all the Birthday wishes! It means a lot! I love and miss you all and will be thinking about you all day! I might go over to a members to have cake later but we will see. We have a lot of appointments tomorrow because I wanted to see everyone on my birthday hahaha. Stay strong!
Love ya,
Sister Smith
