Hello Fam bam!!!
I have so much to tell you!!!! Just another crazy week in Crossroads!!!
I want to start off with the bad because it makes the good even better! This past week Sister Tanner and I had a lesson with a woman and her friend. I met them when I was on exchanges in Fishers. She seemed really interested and wanted to know more. I felt sick the whole day though because I just didn't feel right going to see her. Well...I didn't listen to the spirit and we went to see her. We met her and her friend at a restaurant and got to know one another. It started off as just a gospel discussion with a few questions but then it turned into them trying to debate. Not to brag or anything but I know the bible really well so I love when people try to debate it. The hard part though is trying not to bible bash and instead teaching with the spirit and love. They kept saying to us "PROVE IT!!". The thing is the only way to "prove it" is to have them read the Book of Mormon. We told them about the Book of Mormon and then testified and promised them they could know if it was true by reading it. They still wanted to keep arguing. Finally I said, "This is a waste of our time. We could both do more good if we both went out and helped others to come closer to Christ. We've given you all the tools you need to find out if it's true." We told them we would not meet with them anymore but that they are welcome to come to church. She freaked out! She told us that we were scared and that she knew we were going to hell and that's why she wanted to meet with us; to save us. There was a lot more that happened but I know that I felt the spirit so strong as we testified of truth. We went home after the lesson and cried. Her nickname is Satan's spawn. I know, real Christ like.
The next day was a miracle!! We met with out investigator Norm. He is the father or a returning less active. When we got there he told us that he had been up all night reading the Book of Mormon and studying the pamphlets that we gave him. He even did the questions in the back! He told us that he received his answer to his prayer about whether or not he should get baptized. He told us that God answered his prayer and that he's getting baptized on February the 13th!!!!! AAAHHHHH!!! It was such a spiritual lesson. We are so happy for him. He is making so much progress!
The next miracle is Dama got baptized!!!! It was such an amazing baptism :) The day before her baptism we went over for dinner and a lesson. As we were getting ready to leave she said, "Man I am feeling nervous. I need a cigarette." Sister Tanner and I looked at her horrified!! She just looked at us and started laughing. I was so mad at her I chased her around her apartment ready to beat her. She is so funny!!! Every time we go over she is always making me laugh. The day of her baptism we were all crying the spirit was so strong. After she came up out of the water we met her in the changing room. We gave her a hug and congratulated her. She put the towel over her face and when she pulled it away she had tears streaming down her face. The church is true. This is truly Christ's church.
On a sad note we got transfer calls and I will be leaving Crossroads. I'm going to serve on campus at Indiana University! I'm excited but sad at the same time. I'm so grateful for all the miracles that I've been able to see here.
I love you all!!!
Love,
Sister Smith
