Hello everyone!
Jake you got a new car?! You know it's funny that you got a white mazda because the other day that's what I decided I wanted to get when I get home. Let me know how you like it. I can't believe Josh will be driving soon. That's so crazy to me! He was just a little boy when I left! Kels. Please don't get married before I get home.
Dad at church on Sunday our bishop was falling asleep on the stand hahaha. It was so funny it made me think of you. I have so much appreciation for Bishops. They have so much to deal with. Especially in the ward I'm in now, I swear everyone is on welfare. They actually said that our ward has as much welfare as the rest of Indiana. Crazy right?!
Okay so this last week has been so crazy and hectic. We went on 2 exchanges this last week AND had a baptism. Kim and Jasmine were baptized on Saturday. It was such an amazing baptism! I cried through the whole thing. The spirit was so strong. Kim started investigating the church in 2013 but because she smoked she had to quit before she could get baptized. She worked so hard to get to this point. All day Sunday she kept saying how amazing she felt. I know this church is true. I love seeing the joy and peace that the gospel of Jesus Christ gives people. There is nothing like it.
This week I went on exchanges to Carmel. My old area! It was so much fun! We taught this woman named Leah who was preparing for baptism and her boyfriend sat in. Her boyfriend is against the church. Hahaha I seriously love talking to people who don't like the church. It just makes me happy. Anti is the best. So he started to get mad at us and said,"THERE IS NO COMMANDMENT AGAINST DRINKING ALCOHOL." We told him there is through a modern day prophet. He just kept shaking his head. It was amazing though because Leah, the investigator, defended it and said why it was important to follow the word of wisdom.
Funny story about Leah's boyfriend. (He's literally crazy.) He told me that I have a pink aura around me. Or my head I guess. He says that I'm a healer because I have pink around me. Okayyy...
Some other funny stories: We were pulling out of the church one day and we saw a woman chucking things at another man. And then she started attacking him and trying to punch him. I was so mezmerized we just sat in the car and watched. She then took the lid off a cooler and threw it at him. He got angry and threw her to the ground and was punching her. We were about to call the cops but then she got up and walked away. Crazy hood.
We also were driving out of our apartment complex one day and we saw a guy going to throw away something in the dumpster. He was sagging he pants like everyone does here. Well when he jumped to throw something away his pants dropped. BAHAHAHAHA Sister Tanner and I were laughing so hard. When he turned around he saw us laughing but we just played it off and drove away. I love serving here.
This area is the best. Everyone says "amen" and "praise Jesus" in church. I sometimes feel like I'm in a Pentecostal church. I've gotten so used to people saying things like that during prayers that sometimes I get an urge to say "amen" when someone else is praying haha. Mom, sorry if I come home and my grammar is bad. The black woman inside of me is coming out. Everyone loves everyone here too.
Spiritual insight of the week: I was thinking about the word of wisdom and how Leah's boyfriend was against it. I can't believe how some people can let a little thing like that get in the way of having eternal life or being with their family forever. Sometimes we don't understand commandments that God gives us and we can think they're little and don't matter. But if we can't follow the little commandments how is God going to trust us with anything else? I've learned so much this last week and I know that God loves ALL his children no matter what.
Love you all! Have a blessed week!
