Hello everyone!!
This week has been another wonderful week in the mission field. Do you remember how sister gray was sick for a few weeks? Well...now I'm sick. Yep the week before I go home I get sick! I have a bad cough and like my head hurts all the time. We think it's the same thing sister gray had and it's just a virus. So we'll see if I get better and if not I'll probably be going to the doctor. This is the definition of enduring to the end.
On the bright side, we had some solid miracles this week!! On Tuesday we were supposed to have an appointment with our investigator Juanita. Well she didn't answer and we tried calling her and she didn't pick up the phone either. Later she called and dropped us...BUT we got a miracle out of it. When she didn't answer the door we decided just to go across the street and knock on the neighbors door. This young girl probably my age opened the door. Her name is Kat, she is amazing! We started talking to her and she told us that she was going through a divorce and had moved into her grandma's house just a week ago to figure out her life. She said that she doesn't really know what her purpose is anymore. The miracle is...we have an answer for that!! So we taught her about Joseph Smith and the spirit was so strong! After we were finished she hugged us and said thank you. AND she gave us each a doctor pepper!!!! Then we prayed with her and she hugged us again. She is so amazing. I know that if you listen to the spirit God will put people in your path who are ready to accept the gospel.
Also, after that we didn't have a dinner appointment but the amazing Sister Shipley invited us over for dinner that night. She had the best pie too! Another miracle!!
On Wednesday, I got to go to dinner with Kim, Jazmine, and Tammy!! They are some of my recent converts from crossroads. It was so fun!! When I saw them I just screamed! It's amazing how much you grow to love the people you teach. I just cried when I had to leave them. I couldn't stop hugging them. I miss them so much!!
Okay so let's talk about the Flores kids. They've been really struggling. We just felt like they don't care and that they have no desire. So...on Friday we met with them and had a drop lesson. We basically told them that they had to put in more effort and that we were wasting our time if they weren't going to keep any of our commitments. Robert, the oldest, asked what they needed to do for us to keep coming. We told them they needed to come to church, read their scriptures, pray and stop smoking weed. He said okay. Well Saturday night Robert called and asked for some names of members who could give him a ride to church. But then he told us he couldn't come this week :( So Sunday comes around and we walk into the chapel and see Robert sitting by himself in a pew!!! Ahhhh!!! Sister Gray and I looked at each other and just ran over to him! He told us that he found a ride but wanted to surprise us. IT WAS THE BEST SURPRISE EVER!!!!! I'm so proud of him. He is an amazing 16 year old. I know that us dropping them is what needed to happen and hopefully this will help them to realize the importance.
Even though I haven't been feeling good this week has been full of miracles. I'm so grateful to be serving as a missionary here and get to be a part of this amazing work.
Love you all!! Have a great week :)
love,
Sister Smith
