This week has probably been the craziest week yet! Okay so first of all it is so warm! I'm loving the weather. It makes it nice when we go tracting. This week we went to the Celery Bog and there is a trail that goes around it. We walked the whole trail and were able to talk to a ton of people. On Friday we were tracting and we met this old lady named Linda. She seemed so sweet, until she found out we were Mormons. She told us we were from a cult and said she told everyone not to be Mormons. She said she studied all about us but at the same time she didn't know anything about us so that was funny. I had to hold my tongue because I just wanted to convince her I was right. She was so rude but when you're arguing the spirit isn't there and then there is no way to teach them. It's like teaching a brick wall they just don't want to listen. She is a Lutheran. A lot of Lutherans don't like Mormons I've learned. So if I'm at a door and they say they're Lutheran I just walk away. Jk not really but that's how I feel hahaha.
Saturday was VERY interesting. First off we went tracting like we ALWAYS do. We came to a house and a found a man who was Muslim. He invited us in right away. I was excited but at the same time skeptical. We sat down and all of a sudden his mom, dad, aunt, and sister walked in. Family gathering! They told us they believe that Christ didn't die on the cross and that they healed his wounds and he lived till he was old. They also believe that the second coming of Christ has already happened. Well then...So we tried to teach them but they just wanted to argue and were apparently trying to save us from hell. Everyone here tries to do that. We were there for way too long and in the end we got nowhere. Sweet. They said they really liked us though and that they would feed us whenever we wanted. Yay! After that our zone went to a party. There is a 73 year old woman who we workout at the gym with everyday. She invited us to her birthday party! She's not a member and neither is her family that we met. So we show up to the party and the first thing I see is a 7 foot tall drag queen. It. looked. so. weird. I didn't know what to do so I just went up and shook it's hand hahaha. I think I freaked the drag queen out. There were a ton of old people. I felt really awkward but just decided to go talk to people. I talked to so many old people and they were so cute. They loved us missionaries! I also got out on the dance floor and got down to the chicken dance and hoki poki. I also had an old man drag me out to the dance floor to dance. It was really weird. I didn't know what to do! AHHHHHH!!!! When I went back to where my zone was sitting they all started teasing me. It was really funny. When the drag queen started to dance we left because it all just got real weird.
So anyway this weekend was CRAZY!! I'll tell you more details when I get home. Email does not give it justice.
We got two new investigators yesterday as well!!!! Yay!!! Please pray for my investigators. I have so many but none of them are progressing.
Indiana is so weird but so amazing!!! I love it!!! Oh and btw got called Elder Smith in sacrament meeting yesterday hahaha it was so funny! Don't worry dad everyone struggles at the pulpit. I'm so proud of Jake and Josh and how well they did in the tournament. I brag about you two everyday. Kels I'm so proud of you becoming a dating machine! Whoot whoot! Just DO NOT get married. I'm serious. Mom dad I'm sorry you couldn't stay at our St. George place. I seriously think about that bed there all the time and how comfy it is haha. Dad thank you for that quote. I started to tear up because that's how I feel and exactly what I needed. This week has been really hard and sometimes I feel that knocking doors is not worth it. But when you find a new investigator and see the gospel start to change their life it's amazing! Jake you will love being on a mission! The things you learn are beyond comparison.
I love you all so much and am so grateful for your support! Love you lots!
Love,
Sister Smith
P.S. I did get the packages! Thank you! And my companion wants to be a rebel so today we are going to dye her hair. Her parents always told her she couldn't. The crazy things that happen on a mission!
