Hello everyone!!! I'm so glad to hear you all had a good 4th of July. That's only my favorite holiday! I think it's because every year we would get together with the family. It's the best. Don't worry I'll be there next year!!!
This week was filled with lots of miracles!! God is good :)
On Wednesday we had President Carlson's welcome to the mission. Our surrounding area of missionaries got together for him and his wife to speak to us. He is so funny! He has a dry sense of humor but I really like it. He is very inspired and I know that he will do great things for this mission.
We are continuing to teach the Flores kids. They are amazing!!! Unfortunately the mom Naomi isn't as interested anymore. She won't sit in on our lessons and she doesn't want to quit smoking. The kids on the other hand are still going strong so they will be baptized on the first of August. They all came to church yesterday and stayed for all three hours. The ward is really taking care of them so it's been great to see.
On Friday we went up to Indianapolis for Sister Gray. She went and visited a counselor so hopefully that will help her for some of the things she is struggling with. It is up and down everyday but we are getting through it :) After that we got to help out with our Stake's Youth Conference. They did a sort of mini mission for all the youth. So we went and taught the girls as if we were doing a Zone Meeting. It was like being an STL all over again! I love giving trainings. It was fun :)
The most amazing miracle happened on Saturday. We went out tracting and it was SO HOT!!!! The humidity is killing me so I am basically dripping sweat constantly haha. We didn't have too much success for like the first hour but then we knocked on a door and met a woman named Sonya. We met her and her twin girls who are four years old. They are so cute! We introduced ourselves to her as missionaries and that we were talking to people about Jesus. She told us that she had actually been looking for a church to go to. YESSSS!!!! Don't worry I kept my cool. She then asked us what we believe. We taught her the restoration and after telling her about Joseph Smith we asked her if she thinks that this experience could've happened. Without any hesitation she looked at us and said YES. We were so excited!!!! She agreed to have us back on Tuesday so we are going to visit her tomorrow. We'll let you know what happens!!!!!
Okay now for the funny crazy story! So the Lopez family is really getting involved in their Pentecostal church. So...we decided to go check it out and see what it's all about haha. We took the spanish elders so they could translate for us cause it's all in spanish. Let me tell you...it was VERY different. They were yelling and when they prayed they were like crying but you could tell it was all a show. It was not sincere. I love the people. They were all so kind but I just don't get it. To be honest I don't understand why they like that church more than ours. There weren't even any pictures in there of Christ. NONE. And then they prayed in the middle of the service for offerings. So then in front of everyone you had to go up and put money in the basket. I asked the elders for a dollar but they wouldn't let me do it haha. Don't worry during the service I yelled out a few "Amen's" and "HALLELUJAH!!" Moral of the story. Our church is true. Period.
I love and miss you all!!! Have a good week :)
Love,
Sister Smith xoxo
